Johnnie Lewis Quarles was born in McCormick South Carolina on September 22, 1941 to the late Bertha Settles Quarles and the late Thomas Cleveland Quarles. Johnnie graduated form McCormick Central High School and left McCormick South Carolina at the age of twenty one to pursue his career as a truck driver in Washington DC.
Johnnie drove trucks for over 25 years and later on decided to move back to New York where he retired from Macy’s Department Store in 2003.
Johnnie is preceded in death with Sister Ajarale Quarles and Brother William Pressley Quarles.
Johnnie leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Marilyn Williams Quarles; daughter, Lori Quarles (Billy) Smith of Harrisburg, PA; son, Johnnie (Janice) Quarles, Jr. of Harrisburg, PA; son, Jack Quarles of Washington, DC; daughter, Kathy Pierce of New York; son, Jamal (Shanna) Young of Hbg; son, Quan (Debbie) Young of VA; son, John Lennon of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Janet Quarles of New York; son, Donnel Johnson of New York; daughter, Chante Jenkins; son, Antonio Jenkins; daughter, Veronica Jenkins; son, James Williams all of New York and daughter, Dionne Williams of California; sister, Hazel Quarles of South Carolina; brother, Albert (Julia) Quarles of Vaginia; brother, James Quarles of Kansas City; brother, Eugene of New York; brother, David (Venous)Quarles of Virgina; sister, Effie Thompson of South Carolina; sister, Carol Lanier of South Carolina and sister, Penny Starr Frazier of South Carolina. Johnnie has 20 Grandkids and One Great Grand and a host of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Sally Quarles; four brother- in-laws, Donnell, Calvin, Corey and Brice Jenkins and mother-in-law, Rose Jenkins all of New York.
