Eula Mae Noble-Lawson, was born on September 19, 1933 in St. Matthews, South Carolina to the late Joshua and Allie Noble, the fourth of six children. Her brother, James Noble and great-grand daughter, Essence Bowden predeceased her in death.
Eula was educated in the South Carolina school system. In her adult years she completed the Nursing Aide program at York College in New York.
She was baptized in South Carolina at the Emancipation Baptist Church and later became a member at Rush Temple AME Zion Church in New York, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and Class Number 20.
Eula helped to care for several children in the neighborhood, which is why she became affectionately known as ‘Mama’ Lawson. She often placed the needs of others in front of her own. She was a kind hearted, soft spoken “Woman of GOD”.
She met and married Herman Lawson, Sr., through their union they had three children, whom she loved and cherished; Herman Jr., Nina, and Barbara.
Eula was very creative and loved working with her hands. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, gardening and cooking. She was famous for her sweet potato pies.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Herman Lawson, Sr.; son Herman Lawson Jr.; daughters Nina (Sidney) Irish and Barbara (Raphael) Manuel; grandchildren: Robert (Cynthia) Bowden; Patricia Bowden; Alexis Manuel; Raphael Manuel, Jr.; Alicia Manuel; brothers: Fred (Lucille) Noble; Herbert (Catherine) Noble; sister Gertie Caldwell all of South Carolina and sister Lillie Sims of Brooklyn, NY; sister-in-laws Magalene Ransom of South Carolina and Ruth Lawson of New York; brother-in-laws Roosevelt (Lois) Lawson of Seattle Washington and Clinton Walker of New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church family and good neighbors.
Ma, sleep on and take your rest, we loved you, but GOD loved you best.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
